Hectron automatic filters for plant network protection

The vast majority of plants require water for their processes or cooling circuits. In-plant water networks are therefore essential to the plant’s smooth operation, and must be properly maintained and protected. Hectron’s automatic filters are the right answer to these needs, offering a fine filtration threshold that covers all suspended particles. What’s more, Hectron filters offer a number of advantages, including low cost and low maintenance requirements.

Which plant water systems are concerned?

All plant water networks can benefit from effective protection by filtration, whether they be :

  • water networks for manufacturing processes, such as paper mills, chemical plants or food processing plants.
  • cooling water networks for steel wire drawing lines, foam plastic production or any other process.

It is always important to ensure that the water used is not over-polluted by suspended particles such as fine metal particles or dust. The presence of large quantities of this type of particle can ultimately alter the manufacturing process, affect the quality of the products produced or damage the machines used. These are major costs to be avoided through the judicious use of efficient and appropriate automatic filtration systems.

What type of filtration?

Several filtration processes can be used to protect water systems in the factory. Very often, magnetic filtration is used, as factories are faced with numerous metal particles suspended in the water and coming from machinery. This process is effective, but if the water system also contains dust and other suspended matter (which is often the case), these will not be filtered out. Hectron’s automatic filters are the ideal solution for complete filtration of all possible types of particles. What’s more, Hectron filters can be fine-tuned, and in particular have the capacity to have a very low filtration threshold. Finally, Hectron automatic filters are delivered ready to use, easy to set up and virtually maintenance-free. Not to be overlooked in plants that operate 24 hours a day and need a constantly efficient process.

Which Hectron automatic filters can be used to protect plant networks?

There are two ranges of Hectron automatic filters that are ideal for protecting plant water networks: the AG and AS models.

AG automatic filters

AG range filters are recommended for in-plant water systems, whatever the purpose of the system. They are highly appreciated for their many advantages, including :

  • Fully automatic operation.
  • No consumables are required for operation.
  • Very low filtration thresholds.

In fact, Hectron’s AG range offers a wide range of filtration thresholds, from 0.5-1 microns to 500 microns. The AG automatic filter cleaning system consists of a suction ramp. Cleaning only starts when there is a pressure difference between upstream and downstream: as a result, cleaning operations consume little water and are triggered only when necessary. 4 models are available in this range: AG 100, AG 200, AG 300 and AG 400.

What they have in common is that they are all manufactured on the basis of a stainless steel casing, and have a maximum operating pressure of 5 bar. The various models differ in size, and therefore in capacity, as well as in flow rate. The respective maximum flow rates of the various AG automatic filter models are as follows:

  • AG 100: 8 m3/h.
  • AG 200: 45 m3/h.
  • AG 300: 120 m3/h.
  • AG 400: 340 m3/h.

Finally, there are also differences in inlet/outlet types and diameters. Here are the characteristics for the 4 models: AG 100: 1″ F thread AG 200: 2″ F thread, 3″ M thread and DN80 flanges AG 300: 3″ M thread and DN100 and DN150 flanges AG 400: DN100, DN150, DN200 and DN250 flanges

AS automatic filters

Hectron also offers another range of low-pressure automatic filters for protecting factory networks: the AS range, with its 3 filter models. Here too, these filters offer a very wide range of filtration thresholds, providing a great deal of latitude depending on the desired result and the problems encountered. These filtration thresholds are adjustable from 6 to 400 microns. All 3 models are manufactured with stainless steel casings and can withstand pressures of up to 5 bar. As with the AG range, the difference between the models lies in the flow rate and inlet/outlet characteristics. The 3 AS automatic filter models have the following characteristics:

  • AS 200: 45 m3/h maximum flow and 3″ M thread and 2″ F thread
  • AS 300: 120 m3/h maximum flow and DN100 and DN150 flanges
  • AS 400: 340 m3/h maximum flow rate and DN150, DN200 and DN250 flanges

Filters with a pressure rating of 10 bar are available on request, and can also be manufactured in 316 L stainless steel.
